After his official visit this weekend, the 6’9 PF Javin DeLaurier out of STAB has decided to commit to Duke. “The weekend was absolutely great.” Grayson Allen and Amile Jefferson were the two current Blue Devils who hosted him this weekend. “It was amazing going in there and immediately starting to bond with those guys, it was great”. He had this to say when we asked him why Duke, “Honestly it’s the best fit for me in terms of basketball and academics, offers the best of both worlds, gives me the opportunity to play against the best players everyday in practice, in games, and it’s close to home.” He had great things to say about Coach K, “It was really surprising to me actually, he is a lot more personal than you think, and already has trust in me.” His number one goal while he is there is to win a national championship. He knew on his official this weekend that this was the place he wanted to be, “I knew it right away, it felt like home when I was bonding with those guys.”
DeLaurier was the starting forward for Team Loaded VA this summer and led his team to the Adidas Super 64 championship on ESPNU. He’s shown tremendous growth over the past year and is becoming more and more versatile. At 6’9 with an increasingly impressive skill set and incredibly high motor, DeLaurier will be a major asset to Coach K.
