The Playmaker Movement is a series that takes you behind the scenes of Team Loaded on their journey through the Adidas Uprising AAU Circuit. At this point, we’ve taken you to Dallas, Indianapolis, and Orlando for the three sessions of the Adidas Gauntlet. In this episode, we head to Las Vegas for the Adidas Super 64! This year the Super 64 was the biggest and most loaded tournament in the nation. Adidas is on the rise and several of the top players in the nation are heading into this circuit so they can get maximum exposure and play against the toughest competition.
To start off this episode, we witness the 16U Team Loaded VA fight their way to a 16U Championship victory over the DC Thunder. The 16s were ranked number 1 in the country overall this year! Justice Kithcart (2016 PG) led the team with passion and got all of his teammates involved. His outstanding performance earned him the 2014 Adidas Super 64 MVP Honors.
Next up we go into the world of Team Loaded NC. They had been ranked #2 overall in the country for a period this season and we dominant throughout the Adidas Gauntlet. This week in Vegas they faced a challenged they had not yet experienced though. Their 5-star point guard, Dennis Smith Jr. (ESPN #5 in class of 2016), had to leave after their first game of pool play. He was invited to try out for the USA U17 team so the team had to adjust the rotation on the fly. Even without Dennis, they were able to advance into the Elite 8, including a big victory over Game Elite and Jaylen Brown (ESPN #2).
Finally we step into the lives of Team Loaded VA. They were on a mission and their level of focus was constant throughout the week. Their preparation was an amazing sight as the whole team remained shared the same vision. Every member of the team accepted their roles and put it all on the line. Led by Thon Maker, Team Loaded VA advanced their way into the final 4. They were 1 of the 4 teams given the chance to play on ESPNU that week.
As you all watch these episodes just remember that a great deal of discipline, hard work, and God given talent is required to play at this level. These players approach every game as a professional. They take care of their bodies and minds and keep their level of focus. So watch and learn and one day you can possibly join the Team Loaded Movement!
